Project Overview
Built Interiors completed this office renovation project for Okta, located on the 5th floor of a bustling office building at 35 Shelbourne Road, Dublin 4. The project was designed to revitalise the space, introducing a new café and dining areas while upgrading the kitchen, mechanical, electrical, security, and data systems. Additionally, the workspace was enhanced with new furniture, branding, and meeting room manifestations.

Scope
Demolition of existing structures, construction of new rooms, installation of a café and dining area, complete overhaul of mechanical and electrical systems, and upgrades to furniture and interior branding.

Challenges and Solutions:
1. Complex Logistics in a High-Traffic Area:
Challenge: The project site was situated in a densely populated commercial district of Dublin, where maintaining normal traffic flow and pedestrian safety was paramount. Additionally, the absence of nearby spaces for compounds, vehicle parking, or waste containers posed significant logistical challenges.

Solution: Built Interiors implemented a meticulous logistics plan that involved using a side door and escape stairs for all contractor access. Deliveries and waste removal were strategically scheduled during off-peak hours to minimise disruption to local traffic and office operations. This approach ensured that the project did not impede the daily activities of neighbouring businesses and the general public.
2. Tight Timeline and Custom Requirements:
Challenge: The project demanded the integration of bespoke joinery items and standard office furniture within a stringent four-week timeline, requiring precise planning and coordination.
Solution: The team at Built Interiors drew upon their extensive experience in project management, coordinating closely with suppliers and subcontractors to adhere to a strict delivery schedule. This ensured all materials were received and installed on time, aligning perfectly with the overall project timeline.
Maintaining Access and Safety:
Challenge: Continuous clear access was essential, not only for the safety of the building’s occupants but also to comply with regulatory requirements, especially given the project’s complex nature and busy location.
Solution: Built Interiors prioritised safety and accessibility throughout the project. We maintained clear pathways at all times and took extra precautions to protect common areas from damage during the renovations. A dedicated safety coordinator was on-site to oversee these aspects, ensuring compliance with all safety protocols.
Project Impact:
The renovation of Okta’s Dublin office has significantly transformed the workspace into a modern, functional area that fosters collaboration and efficiency. The new installations and upgrades have not only enhanced the aesthetic appeal of the office but have also improved the functionality, making it a vibrant and more welcoming environment for staff and visitors alike..
